Chasing Golden Hours

I remember family roadtrips trips to West Virginia, Virginia and the Carolina’s, as a child, to visit extended family and for vacations. My dad was a master trip planner. Planning the route carefully as to maximize our enjoyment. Often, these roadtrips included a mountain crossing or a long winding drive along mountain roads.

The Blue Ridge Parkway was frequent attraction on my dad’s roadtrips. We’d spend twenty minutes or an hour slowly meandering along the scenic byway, occasionally, stopping to shop or visit a historic location.

A couple years ago it occurred to me that there was more to see on the Blue Ridge Parkway than I experienced as part of my fathers expedition team. I researched the route, planned daily distances and identified interesting attractions along the way. I don’t like hotels and motels so I planned to car camp my way along the 469 miles.

My friend and colleague Daniel joined me for the drive. He’s an excellent photographer. Much better than I am. Daniel brought all his photo tech and shot some amazing slow motion and stop-animation videos.

I wish Daniel would process his photography and share it with me to post. Pssst, Daniel, I’ll give you full credit in the captions.
